This is the first post in what seems like an age, and we’ve got a lot to catch up on. For now, though, I’m proud to announce some new videos.
First off the mark regarding Forlorn Hope and Glory was Robert Grimes, our good friend from Texas. He’s put together vids for both Turn Me Up and City and Soke:
Meanwhile, resident Southampton fan Mike Walls has finished off his contributions for A Head of Steam and made a start on our new album’s first three songs:
Many thanks to both Robert and Mike for their tremendous voluntary efforts – we really don’t know where we’d be without generous people like you. You can find all the videos for our songs on our YouTube channel, here.
If you’d like to get in on the act, please feel free. Whether you plan a professional shoot in hi-def or simply to put together a slideshow, it all increases the chances of someone stumbling across our music. On this subject, we extend further thanks to our favourite Nordic star Eira – she has added all our songs to her YouTube account using the artwork on this site. Simple, yet effective:
Featuring actor Arthur Lowe in his role of Captain Mainwaring in the vintage sitcom Dad’s Army, it’s probably a reference that you have to be British to get – rumours that the photo is a member of the band are strenuously denied!
Anyway, not only has he created this animated gif, but Mike’s managed to persuade a few other people to join him in adopting it for the week! Many thanks to the following for either setting it as their avatar or featuring it on their page:
Written by long-time fan and Last.fm friend Eira, it certainly made for an interesting read – not least seeing which songs were singled out for special credit. Why not listen to the album while you read and see if you agree?
Well, it’s been a busy few days at Home Guard HQ following the release of Forlorn hope and Glory. The next step is to get the album up on all the social networking sites, and we’ve started with Last.fm:
The reception there has been largely positive already, and we encourage everyone to help our stats by listening as much as you can. Tags and shouts are also very gratefully received.
Incidentally, we’ve just got round to uploading our cover of the Beatles classic For No One to the site, and you can find that here:
You’ve waited a long time for this, but we’re delighted to announce that Forlorn Hope and Glory – The Home Guard’s second album – has finally been released. You can listen to it in full here:
And if you’re keen on buying it, you can get the CD directly from us, the CD or mp3s from CD Baby, or download it from iTunes. And even if you don’t want to buy it, a brief review on either of the latter two would go a very long way indeed.
To go with all the new music, we’ve also given the official website a bit of an overhaul, so if you’re reading this from an imported blog (e.g. Facebook), head on over to www.thehomeguard.info and check it out. If you find any broken links, mistakes or any other problems, please either post a comment below or let us know here. (Let’s just hope the contact form is working properly, eh?)
Anyway, we sincerely hope you like this new chapter in The Home Guard’s “career” (such as it is). You can expect the new material to roll out across MySpace, Last.fm etc. in the next few days.
