MySpace user Professor Cedar has etched himself a permanent inscription in our good books after adding our song The Orator to his profile.

You can view his page at http://www.myspace.com/chrisgrose. The more sharp-eyed of you will notice that this is the second of our songs to be linked to this profile, after Champagne Socialist a few weeks ago.

Many, many thanks to Professor Cedar, and if anyone else wants to do likewise, please feel free.

Quite a few people have been asking what we’re currently working on, and as it’s rather difficult to describe music, we’ve decided to upload some demos for all to hear.

Our debut album came out in November, so, needless to say, these songs are not very far along at all. We tend to record guide tracks for piano, bass, vocals and a few other elements before going for proper “takes”, so some of what you hear here won’t be on the final recordings. The idea is not to show off our sparkling production and musical prowess; rather, these demos should give you a flavour of what’s to come on our second album.

Here are the download links. Feel free to distribute these mp3s as you see fit.

We have high hopes for One for the Road. It’s all about energy, this one, and we think that comes through even though this is just the absolute basic rhythm track.

Pseudonym is a different proposition all together. A slower, more sedate (and more musical) song, this is missing it’s guitar tracks at the moment. All you’ll hear with the drums and bass are piano (which is a guide track), organ and synth. The verses are intended to be acoustic guitar-led, while the sections after the piano breakdowns will crash back in with electric guitar.

So what do you think? Hopefully these demos will whet your appetite for what’s to come. Feel free to post a comment to let us know your opinions, and don’t forget to check back for more in the coming weeks!

This is the first update in what seems like ages… mainly because the computer we use for internet access went belly-up, and it’s taken a while to get back online.

So what’s new? Well, recording for the new album is well and truly underway. Ten songs have been written, and they all exist in demo form at least. Some of them have their actual final basic rhythm tracks recorded, but we’re still a long way off vocals and other finishing touches.

If you’re looking for a release date, you’re not going to get one from us! The likelihood is that the album will see the light of day in 2008, but as we change our minds every session over such minor issues as what key or tempo a certain song should be in, don’t hold us to that.

We hope to start uploading work-in-progress mp3s right here in the near future, so check back regularly if you want a sneak peak of our second album.
