The Home Guard would like to express its extreme gratitiude to MySpace user Christofu.
As you will see if you visit http://www.myspace.com/chrisgrose, Christofu has added our song Champagne Socialist to his profile. As far as we know, he is the first person to do this, and we thank him.
If anyone else wishes to do the same (for any of our five songs on MySpace), please feel free to do so. If you let us know, we’ll mention it here.
Uploading our song Champagne Socialist to our MySpace page has resulted in us passing the 1000 plays mark.
In fact, things are now moving so quickly that we hadn’t reached the thousand mark last night, but had passed 1100 by this morning!
In other news, we’ve had over 2000 profile views and added more than 50 friends. If you haven’t sent us a friend request yet, please feel free to do so!
It was being spammed left, right and centre, and hardly used at all for the reason intended, so we decided the best course of action was to remove our forum all together.
If you wish to contact us or leave feedback, you can still e-mail us or post in the guestbook.
Alternatively, if you have a MySpace account, send us a friend request!
Well, we’ve a long way to go before we can call ourselves that, but a behind-the-scenes look at our stats suggest that we’ve had visitors from all over the world.
It’s no surprise that the USA and Great Britain provide the most hits, along with the less-than-specific “European country”, but it appears that listeners have ben browsing through from Germany, China, Taiwan, Canada, South Korea, France, Netherlands, Australia, Austria, Spain, Ukraine, Colombia, Japan, Brazil, Turkey, Hungary, Poland, United Arab Emirates, Mexico, Indonesia, Italy, The Seychelles, and, slightly bizarrely, an “Unknown country”.
We look forward to adding to this list over time. So, if you have any friends in exotic countries not already on the list, why not send them the address to our site?
You may or may not be interested to know that our MySpace site has undergone a bit of a transformation.
If you want to check it out, head over to http://www.myspace.com/thehomeguardinfo.
Be sure to send us a friend request!
An online discussion of our music led to people suggesting who we sound like to them. Sparks were mentioned a couple of times, as were The Kinks. Those are easily explained, but two people independently compared us to Styx.
This left us quite surprised as we have never really been into them. Do you agree? Who do we sound like to you?
(Go here to see the discussion.)
We can see on our stats page that loads of you are listening, but hardly anyone is getting in touch! A special thanks, in this regard, to Rich in the USA: he became the first person to sign our guestbook, and he gave us a pretty good write-up too.
Hopefully others will soon follow suit. We just want to know what you think!
